UBER, LYFT AND VIA DRIVERS RALLY AGAINST SHAM "RIGHT TO BARGAIN "-FOR-LESS BILL AUTHORED BY THE COMPANIES

NEW YORK: Today, Monday, June 7th, at 1:00 PM, Uber, Lyft and Via drivers will hold a rally and press conference inside the Capitol Building calling on lawmakers to reject a bill being floated by the companies that would leave drivers with less pay, gut the Unemployment they have already won as employees under state Unemployment Insurance Law, and set up a sham bargaining process that favors company unions and strips the drivers out of a right to strike and protest. While the drivers and delivery workers - represented by New York Taxi Workers Alliance and Los Deliveristas Unidos / Worker Justice Project respectively - and their broad coalition of allies including Local 32BJ of SEIU, UAW, CWA, Workers United, Make the Road New York, Community Services Society, a group of labor scholars, New York Civil Liberties Union, and National Employment Law Project - have forced the bill to be shelved already, they are taking no chances during these final session hours. NYC Uber, Lyft and Via driver members of the NYTWA are driving up to Albany and rallying in the Capitol concourse to make it clear: Drivers reject second-class treatment!!! No Sham Company Union Bill - Not Now and Not Ever!!!
